In the world today, it can be hard to find more time to read when there is so much to do. Maybe your job demands a lot of your attention or you are very busy with school or you have a family to take care of. There are so many things out there in the world that require your attention so that may leave you with very little time to read.
Set yourself a goal to read a little each day. It can be something small, like you can agree to read maybe one chapter a day before going to bed or spend your commute to/from work reading (as long as you’re not the person driving the vehicle) or maybe you can dedicate the last 5 minutes of your lunch break to reading a portion of whatever book you’re on. Whatever it is, start off small with something that is easily obtainable. Once you get yourself in the habit of reading a certain amount everyday, then you can extend it little by little. Like you can extend it from 1 chapter to 2 chapters or maybe reading the last 10 minutes of your lunch break or whatever.
Choose something you’ll enjoy….
Making time for reading will be easier if you are reading something that you really enjoy. Reading will seem a lot more interesting and fun if you’re reading something that captures and holds your attention, thus making it less like a chore. Also, if you run into something that you don’t like, don’t power through it or force yourself to read it. If you’re not enjoying it, move on to the next one.
Keep a list….
Make a list of books you’d like to read and keep it on you. That way, it will make it easier to choose books to read the next time you’re at your local library or bookstore. If you need help finding books to read, you can find bloggers who can offer suggestions that are to your tastes.
When you read a book you enjoyed, share it with other readers. They may be able to recommend something to you and you’ll find other books to read.
If possible, create a quiet space for you to read in that is free of distractions and too much noise. For example, I have all my books in a spare bedroom of the house. I also have a little loveseat in there as well to relax on when I’m reading. My hubby refers to that spare room as my library.
