“Ten” by Gretchen McNeil

This is the latest novel that I’ve finished reading over the weekend. It is similar to Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” novel but it deals with teenagers instead of adults. With that comes some teenage angst or teenage drama mixed in with the story. I think this book would be geared more towards the young adult audience who like a good thriller. The story is good but I don’t know if an adult would like sitting through the teenage angst/drama that is mixed in.

Synopsis: It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there.

With a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the outside world . . . so when a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, there’s no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Did you see the premiere?

So, who here watched the premiere of “NOS4A2” (yes, I know I’m a little late on this)? Are you excited to see the next episode? What are your expectations for the first season? How many of you have read the book that this show is based on?

I know there are some little differences, so far, between the show and the book. However, I don’t think it’s enough to deter me from watching the show. Yeah, in the book, Vic McQueen was a little younger and she rode an actual bicycle instead of a motor cycle (that seems to be the big difference so far at this point). But I’m still interested in seeing how this show plays out. What do you think so far?

Locke & Key

Locke & Key is a comic book series written by author Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez. I read this comic book series a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed them a lot. Ever since I read them, I’ve heard rumors that they were going to make this series into a tv show and then I heard rumors they were going to make them into movies…..now I’ve finally found out that there is suppose to be a tv show based on this series that is being made for Netflix. Currently, they are filming this from February 11th till June 17th of this year in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I imagine (this is just my theory here) that we won’t get to see this show until very late in the year or some time next year. It depends on how long it takes them to getting through the post-production process and all that jazz. Anyway, I’m glad to finally hear that we are getting a show after hearing so many rumors floating around and I can’t wait to see this show.

The Haunting of Hill House

The Haunting of Hill House is a book from the horror genre written by author Shirley Jackson, which I read the year before last. Well, they recently made a tv show based on the 1959 novel and I finally got to sit down to watch the show last week (I know I’m a little late getting around to posting this and I’m sorry). I enjoyed the show, however, I want to mention that there aren’t a lot of similarities between the book and the show. The only similarity is they named the show the same as the book. The story is completely different and the characters are completely different (even if some of the characters in the tv show share a name with some of the characters from the book). Despite that, I thought the show did a good job telling a really scary story and I was entertained the whole time I watched it. It’ll be something that you’ll just have to watch for yourself.
