Do you have an ideal setting to read in? If so, what is it?
Mine is being at home where I don’t have to worry about being bothered, first of all. I also don’t have to worry about noise or a lot of distractions. My hubby is likely to have the tv on but I can always go to another room in the house to get away from that noise. The tv actually doesn’t bother me a whole lot because I may just be use to it. Plus, I don’t have to worry about someone walking up to me and talking to me right when I’m in the middle of my book, especially if I get to a good part and I want to continue reading.
Second of all, if the weather decides it wants to be gloomy outside, then I prefer to stay home and read. Like yesterday for instance, it was really cold and it was snowing when I got up. I wanted to stay at home where it was nice and warm so I could read but that doesn’t pay the bills unfortunately. So I had to brave the cold and go off to work. I can also stay home if it’s raining outside, especially if it’s storming.
Last but not least, I can do with a nice hot chocolate if it’s cold outside. If it’s during the warmer months, then I’ll find something cold to drink like a Baja Blast Mt. Dew or one of the many flavored waters I have.
I’d love to hear about your ideal setting to read in in the comments below.
My ideal setting is a place with nice illumination and ventilation, where I can sit comfortably with support for my back and know it will be up to me when to put the book down. Ideally, I’m by myself so I don’t have to worry about distractions.
That said, I don’t think I am very picky when it comes to my reading. Once I really get into a book everything around me evaporates so I don’t mind some background noise. If a position or a place is not comfortable after a while I will move somewhere else or change position and barely register that I am doing that. I know I’ve started reading in one place and ended up in a place I didn’t consciously remember going there. Like I start reading in my room and end up sitting in the courtyard or something and then only when I feel the nice breeze or the mosquitos are starting to bite I realize where I am, hahaha.

Yeah, I don’t normally go outside to read because it’s either too hot or too cold. I much prefer to be inside where I can control the temperature that’s inside my house. That would be too distracting to me to have to continually swat away bugs and things while I’m reading so I don’t think I could deal with that.

My ideal setting is my family room because it has good lighting and is close to the kitchen. Ha ha. But besides having a good snack on hand I like to hear the birds chirping outside because that’s always been relaxing to me.
My husband gets confused that I am able to watch tv and read on my Kindle at the same time because I can still give a synopsis of both while he’s confused with the plot of what’s happening on tv.
I have tried reading outside and I just can’t do it. I don’t know if there are too many distractions or if I’m bothered by the slightest breeze. Does that make me too picky?

I don’t think I like reading outside either. There is usually too much going on outside my house and I fear it may prove to be too much of a distraction to me while I read. So, I usually stay inside my house when I read.
