Do you read out loud to anyone? If so, who do you read to? Do you ever read aloud when you are reading by yourself?

I don’t really read to anyone or have anyone to read to. My nephew is old enough to read because he’s learning to do so in school. I’ve let him read to me a couple of times. But I don’t get to really do that with him very often because he kind of lives far away and I’m usually working most of the time when he comes to town. The few times he’s gotten to read to me, I’ve let him read whatever he wants. Last time, I think he read one of his Star Wars books.
I don’t really read aloud when I’m reading to myself either. I just read quietly to myself so that I’m not disturbing my hubby when he watches his tv or whatever he’s doing at that particular moment.
I rarely read aloud anymore and my daughter is grown up so I don’t have any children to read to anymore. I have found that reading instructions out loud helps for comprehension when there is confusion in the steps that need to be taken and I read out loud to my husband when we’re working on projects because I can stress things with my voice that he might have missed by reading in his head. I also read some funny things out loud to my husband because I like getting into character but as for reading books I prefer to be silent and get engulfed into that world.

I’m the same way. I prefer to read in silence and let myself get immersed in the story. I feel like I enjoy it more that way. Besides, I don’t want to distract my hubby with whatever he’s doing at the time by reading my book out loud.
