Is there a right or wrong way to read? Let’s take a look….

Avoid distractions

I will do whatever I can to avoid distractions. This is one reason why I don’t normally read out in public and I’ll read at home instead. You can control your surroundings a lot better at home than you can in the general public. I can be a lot more comfortable and relaxed when I’m at home. I can sit on my couch with a blanket over my lower half (I don’t like my feet being cold) with a book in my lap. If my hubby is home, he’s usually watching tv. If the tv becomes too much, I can always go to another room if need be.

No spoilers, please!

This is something that has always bugged me. It not only applies to my reading, but I believe in the same thing when it comes to watching a tv show or a movie. I don’t like spoilers of any kind, however, there are some people that don’t have the same courtesy. It’s one thing if someone give you permission to spoil a book for them…..in that case, it’s okay to discuss. But if the person doesn’t give you permission to spoil the book, please don’t do it. There are some people that consider it rude!

Chores done

If I have any chores that need to be done that day. I’ll get them out of the way first. This allows me to focus on my reading and I won’t have my chores nagging me in the back of my mind. More often than not, I’ll go ahead and do my chores as soon as I get home from work so that I can actually relax on my days off. Plus, I won’t have to suffer any recourse from not getting my chores done.
