Do you have a routine when it comes to your reading time? How often do you get to read? When do you find time to read?
Normally, I’ll go to work first thing in the morning. Once I’ve finished my day at work, I then have to come home so that I can cook dinner and clean up the dishes. Once that is done, I’ll go take my shower and throw on my pj’s. At this point, I’ve find gotten around to free time where I can spend a little time reading. Usually I’ll have at least an hour or two to read (how much exactly will depend on if I got off work on time that day and how late am I willing to stay awake to get some reading done).
I don’t have that long of a commute between work and home. So listening to an audiobook in the car while I drive back and forth to work would be almost pointless because it would take me at least 6 to 8 months just to get through one book…..and that’s not even a large book at that.
I could read on my lunch break, however, I’m always scared that if I start reading then I’ll loose track of time and make myself late going back to work when my lunch is over.
I could probably listen to an audiobook while I’m making dinner but my hubby is usually watching tv by this point and I don’t think it would sound good having an audiobook playing at the same time that my hubby is watching tv. I’d probably have to listen to it on some head phones and I don’t think it would be a good idea for me to have a cord dangling right there next to me while I’m trying to cook. I’m afraid I’d get it snagged on something and there would be a disaster in the kitchen.
So, I think it’s just best that I wait until the end of the day for me to read. I’ll have all my stuff done for the day and I’ll be relaxed enough to read once I’ve taken my shower.
I don’t exactly have a routine. I have a six-year-old son and that makes finding time to read to myself tricky. I tend to squeeze it in around the edges of life – waiting for a meeting to start, eating lunch… I definitely want to prioritize reading.

I can see that it would be hard to set a routine. It’s rare that I don’t normally get some reading it. Either I was just really busy or I wasn’t feeling good that day.

I never had any kind of routine for reading. I read when I was in a mood to read and I had plenty of time to read. Sometimes I also had to read because reading was a part of my work. I still have the same reading habit that I had 20 years ago.

I’m glad that you’ve stuck to your reading routine….even after that long.

I normally feel more comfortable with reading at night. I’m always too distracted to read any book during the day. The moment, I find out about thus, I stopped stressing myself with trying to read during the day. I read at least 3 times in a week for about 4 hours.
