What would you do if you didn’t have any books to read? What would you be doing in your spare time?
I honestly can’t see myself not being able to read. Burying myself in a good book allows me to go to my “happy place” and helps me to relieve stress from the day. Nothing helps me get over a bad day more than a good book (except for maybe my awesome hubby or favorite little puppy dog).
Reading can also be informational because I know some people enjoy reading for learning purposes. Other people read in order to keep up with the news and what all is going on out there in the world. I think reading helps to enrich our lives is some form or fashion.
There are probably a number of reasons why we like to read. I enjoy reading because it gives me an escape from all the hustle and bustle of every day life. If I’ve had a particularly stressful day, I can pick up a book and within minutes, I’ve immersed myself in the story and I’ve forgotten all about the hard day I’ve just experienced. It’s like giving your brain a vacation (but it’s cheaper than taking an actual vacation). I find reading to be something that is very relaxing. There are also some entertainment value in it…….it’s like the people who enjoy watching tv or movies (although I must admit I like to do those as well but probably not more than reading). You get to be transported to another place (and often times a completely different time) where you can spend countless hours learning about what is in that world that is created by the author that wrote that piece of literature. I guess I find it interesting to see what other people come up with just by using their imagination. So, if you don’t mine me asking, what are your reasons for reading? Feel free to leave a comment…
Everybody has a favorite spot to read. Whether it’s at their local library, their favorite bookstore, the coffee shop down the street, etc. There are plenty of places for you to relax and enjoy a good book. My favorite place to read is at home. I have a spare bedroom set up as my own personal library and that is my go to spot for curling up with a good book. There is a small couch in there that folds out into a bed so it doubles as a bedroom when we have company over but that doesn’t happen often. Also, I tend to read in bed just before I turn in for the night. I have a few different reasons for picking my home as my favorite spot.
One, it’s quiet enough for me to do my reading. I don’t like a lot of noise or any other distracts going on around me when I’m trying to enjoy a book (especially if the book is getting really good).
Second, I find reading to be a relaxing after a long hard day at work. There is something soothing to me to sit down with a good book when I’ve made it home after work. It’s also kind of like giving myself a reward for all the hard work that I’ve had to put in for that day.
Last, but not least, I don’t have to spend the extra money on gas to go out of my way to go read somewhere. I’m already going to home anyway…. Plus, if there’s bad weather, I’d rather be at home anyway instead of being out and about somewhere.
