"Off to War" by Wayne Hancock

I can cross another novel off my list. I am a fan of author Wayne Hancock and the mysteries or crime fictions that he normally writes. This one didn’t let me down, even though it was a little different than previous books in this series. In previous books, they were usually looking for someone who murdered somebody….in this book they’re trying to keep German spies from invading their community. I was entertained the whole time and I enjoyed the book. I also enjoyed the fact that you get a sense of how people lived back then versus how they live today.

Synopsis: Off to War is the fourth book, and the exciting conclusion to the Gotcha! Series, eleven years in the making. This time Buck Pettit’s investigating club is chasing German spies instead of murderers. Read how they find and eliminate this threat to our national security. What happens to Irv and Will as they reach the draft age? How will they react to this threat of war from abroad? With keen insight and a great ability to blend history and fiction, author Wayne Hancock illuminates the hard times and struggles that existed during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Top 10 Favorite Picks

With this being the last month in the 2019 year, we find ourselves coming towards the end of a decade (as well as another year). Below is a list of books that have been released in the last decade that I’ve read and I am sharing them with those of you reading this. This list is my favorite picks of the decade in no particular order. Enjoy!

This novel is a good mystery to curl up on a couch with and drink a nice cup of hot cocoa while you’re reading. If you’re a fan of Agatha Christie, you’d be interested in reading this book.

This is a good book to read if you’re into reading something a little on the spooky side about a haunted house. This one kept me on the edge of my seat while I was reading it.

If you are into historical fiction and/or westerns, then this is a book for you. Even though this book is outside the genres that I normally read, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down.

This author is a favorite of mine and has been for a while. This book is a good book for any true horror fan to read around Christmas time.

This author is another one of my favorites. This book is good for anyone who like crime fiction or stories about vampires.

This novel kept me entertained until the end and I was shocked when I got to the end. If you like suspense, then this will probably be the book for you.

This was an interesting mystery. You’ll want to settle down somewhere comfortable because this book will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

I’ve read a couple of things from this author but this one is my favorite so far. If you like horror/suspense, try picking up something from this author like this book.

I don’t normally read a lot of romance but I read this one after my husband had watched the movie. I knew it couldn’t be that bad if my hubby would be willing to watch the movie (and enjoy it). I did enjoy the book and I loved the ending.

I read this book when it came out and I loved it. It’s turned into a series since it’s been published. I’ve read this book and Hollow City. I have to go read Library of Souls so that I can see what happened to Jacob and continue that story. I have to see what happens!

2 new books!

Well, I acquired two new books today. I know I mentioned not so long ago that I probably wouldn’t purchase any books any time soon. *grins sheepishly* I couldn’t help myself. I found these two books by author Wayne Hancock and just had to have them. I love reading mysteries and Wayne Hancock happens to be an author I like. I really need to get reading with all these books I have added to my collection. At least I won’t have to worry about running out of stuff to read any time soon…

Author Spotlight

I wanted to take a minute to talk to you about an author by the name of Wayne Hancock and some of the novels he’s written…

“Gotcha!” (A Murder in Warrensburg) was the first book I read. Then I went on to read “Along Came Bill” (Another Murder in Warrensburg) and “The Hard Way” (book 3 in the Gotcha! series). Once I read those, I read “The Vampire Rebellion” (this doesn’t have anything to do with the Gotcha! series). I do have “The Vampire’s Revenge” which is a follow up to the Vampire Rebellion novel but I haven’t gotten to read that book yet. I also have the novel “The Unlikely Predator” but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet either (unfortunately). I also have the novel “Off To War”, which is suppose to be the 4th novel (and the conclusion) in the Gotcha! series but I haven’t read that novel yet either. I know what you’re thinking….I need to get reading and I do plan on reading these books. I just have so many books to read and I just wish I had more time to devote to it. There are other books that this author has written but I haven’t purchased them yet because I want to finish reading the books that I’ve got. His crime novels are perfect for people who like the classic who done it type novels. If you are looking for something more from the fantasy novels then you should take a look at his Vampire’s Rebellion and Vampire’s Revenge novels. If no one has these books in your area, I’ve noticed that you can order them on Amazon. I would check this author out if you haven’t already.
